ADU California ("ADU California," "we," "us") operates aducal.com, an independent, privately operated platform that provides educational information, property analysis, cost estimates, calculators, AI-assisted tools, and related resources for California homeowners. We are not a government agency and are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any government body.

You may give us information directly when you create an account, save a project, submit a form, request to be matched with professionals, apply as a professional, or contact support. This can include your name, email address, phone number, preferred language, project details, and the content of any message you send us.

When you create an account we store your email address, authentication identifiers, and any profile details you add. If you sign in with a third-party provider such as Google or Apple, that provider shares a limited profile with us (typically your name and email address) so the account can be created and secured.

When you enter a property address, we store that address and the property attributes returned by our data providers or entered by you — for example parcel identifiers, lot size, building size, year built, and similar public-record style attributes. This information is stored with your account so you can return to your project.

Contact details you submit through forms are used to respond to you, to operate features you requested, and — if you explicitly consent — to share your project with professionals you asked to be matched with. We do not share your contact details with professionals without that explicit consent.

Like most websites, our systems and hosting providers record technical information such as pages requested, timestamps, browser and device type, approximate location derived from network information, and error diagnostics. We use this to keep the platform working, diagnose problems, and understand which features are used.

We use cookies and browser storage that are necessary for the site to function — for example keeping you signed in, remembering your language preference, and maintaining your session. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, but the platform may not work correctly without the necessary ones.

When you use the cost estimator, project questionnaires, project roadmap, reports, or the ADU California AI assistant, we store the inputs you provide and the outputs generated for you so the results persist in your account. Messages you send to the AI assistant, together with relevant project context, are transmitted to our AI model provider to generate a response.

Do not submit sensitive personal information — such as government identification numbers, financial account numbers, or health information — through the AI assistant or any form on this site.

We rely on third parties to run the platform. These currently include our cloud hosting and database provider, a property-data provider used to retrieve property attributes from an address, an address autocomplete provider, an AI model provider that generates assistant responses, an email delivery provider used for transactional and support email, and a customer relationship system used to manage homeowner and professional inquiries.

These providers process information only to deliver their service to us, and are subject to their own privacy terms.

Paid subscriptions are processed by Stripe. Payment card details are submitted directly to Stripe and are not received or stored by ADU California. We store only the identifiers and subscription status needed to apply your plan to your account.

We use information to create and secure accounts; to operate property analysis, estimates, reports, and AI features; to save and display your projects; to respond to support and contact requests; to process subscriptions; to send transactional and account email; to detect abuse and troubleshoot problems; and to improve the platform.

We share information with the service providers described above so they can perform their functions; with professionals only when you explicitly consent to be connected; and when required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of users or ADU California. If the business is transferred, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

We retain account, project, and property information for as long as your account is active, and afterwards only as long as needed for legitimate business purposes such as records of transactions, resolving disputes, and complying with legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your information as described below.

Access to stored data is restricted through authentication and per-user access rules, and traffic to the site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Use a strong, unique password and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been accessed without permission.

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and disclosed; to request access to or a copy of that information; to request correction of inaccurate information; to request deletion; and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. Because we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, there is no opt-out of sale or sharing to provide.

Categories we may collect include identifiers (name, email, phone), commercial information (subscription and transaction records), internet activity (usage and diagnostics), geolocation-adjacent information (property addresses you enter), and inferences generated by our tools. Each category is collected for the purposes described in this policy.

Email support@aducal.com with your request and the email address associated with your account. We will verify your request through that email address before acting on it, and we may ask for additional information to confirm your identity. An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission.

ADU California is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, email support@aducal.com and we will delete it.

This site links to government, professional, and other third-party websites for convenience. Those sites are operated independently and have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
